The Daintree, where the Rainforest meets the Reef

The Daintree Rainforest is (supposedly) the oldest rainforest in the world. The Rain forest comes very close to the Great Barrier Reef, it is really cool to see. It, like most of Australia, has some pretty bizarre animals, not the least of which is the Cassowary.

Sorry about the bad picture; but it was in the bushes, and we couldn't get very close.

The cassowary is a large flightless bird, that looks like a cross between a turkey and a colorful emu. We called it "Kevin".

A Picture is a thousand words so...... here are 18,000 words.

The Tall one.

  1. Looks very peaceful and calm there. Away from the city is just perfect for vacation. I've visited Australia once and had a fantastic kakadu camping tours. I love Australia.
