Vacation in Vienna

So, after our wonderful weekend at the English Camp we took a day trip down to Vienna. after a two hour bus ride we got to Vienna, and discovered Mr. L's credit card didn't like the tram ticket vending machine (or vice versa). So we had to walk do to the bank to get our train tickets. (lots and lots of pictures in this one  - about thirty - and some of them are... artistically... edited)

The Train station, we spent about two and a half hours here total.

The outlet onto the street.

The streets were really cool, it was like walking through
history, there were monuments and statues everywhere. The
different ages of the buildings could be seen through their
architecture.

A cool statue.

A Starbucks where we asked for directions.

The royal palace cum museum cum office for the president.

All of the following buildings are offices of state which double
as museums, we went on a tour that chronicles the life and
times of Empress Elisabeth (also known as Sisi) unfortunately
we weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but I can just say that
it was amazing to see another culture's take on history.
Espescially one that is currently democratic and used to have
a monarchy.

This was an excavation on the grounds that showed all the
various ages, in the foreground that is a Roman wall, and the
others are foundations from other time periods in Austrian
history.

Leefish, myself and Mrs. L in front of their capital building,
it was huge.

Inside one of the buildings, the carpet was bolted
to the stairs with those bars.

We were there during dusk, and it was absolutely
incredible to behold.

You can't go to Austria without having apple strudel.

The Ferris wheel is a famous Ferris wheel in Vienna. Surprisingly
called the "Vienna Ferris Wheel."

After we got done, the bus picked us up (when I say bus, think really, really nice airplane seats with a TV in front of you) where it dropped us off and took us back to Brno, where we were picked up by Mr. J.

I will be posting about Prague soon, and after that I'll be posting some closing thoughts about my trip. Until then,

Snacks on Sunday

Sunday was the last day at the English Camp. We wrapped class up with emotions, snacks and the outdoors. After classes were finished we went back to the Missions center in Brno, and had an evening worship service.
In the mornings we had a prayer meeting and Bible study
before we started the day. In the middle is one of the pastors
of the local church.

This is our class, eating American candy and snacks. This
was by far the best class, there was laughter and smiles, and
some conversation as well.

After everything was finished we had trivia on what had
happened over the weekend. Things like the phrases in the
game of telephone, quotes from 'The Magnificent Seven' and
other stuff like that.
This is the team, all of us are American except the lady in the
front. The four in the middle are the resident missionaries, and
the two on the right side of them are military who drove over
from Germany.

Our last meal at camp, a traditional Czech dish of beef and
Czech dumplings.

This was the worship team ;)

Mr. J preached that night, and afterwards we had a great
atmosphere of prayer and reverence.

This is the Senior pastor of the Czech church.

So that's all of the English camp, I'll post some sightseeing pictures of Vienna and Prague over the next few days!

Mustaches and Ministries

Today we started our English Lessons. Most of them went really well, and the students all seemed to learn something. We started off with a meeting of the Christians at the camp in the morning (some more on that in a later post), and then had breakfast and started lessons. Our first lesson was on family, relations, and such. Our second was on appearance, and our third was sports.

This little kid wasn't in our class, but we handed out mustaches
They loved them.

This is us playing Soccer/football during the lesson on sports.
We also played baseball. This was one of the better lessons,
not only because they enjoyed it more, but also because it was
much more casual and the conversation flowed more easily.

After lunch we went out to a field and played a few games.
We played Soccer while blindfolded, and a kind of telephone.

After supper we sang some songs and Mr. Jeff shared the gospel through The Bread of Life illustration. It went wonderfully! Two of the girls in my class spent at least an hour talking with the Pastor about Christianity, and several of the adults talked to him as well. Afterwards we played some games and went to bed.
