Australian Candy

Alrighty, so we have a dear friend who was a missionary in Europe in her younger years- we love her! Hi J! She mentioned that they (her team) used to get local candy and sample all the different kinds… What a great idea. The older has done this when he went to Europe and we decided to try it here.
Here is our Melbourne stash of Lollies

We shared one each evening after dinner. First night we had the Flake. It was absolutely, hands down nasty (unless you are the tall one or Essie- who seem to like any candy!) The flake looked like decaying wood-So, not a good first impression. But even the tall one who liked it said it just tasted like really old dried out chocolate… this one got 3 thumbs down and 2 thumbs of indifference.

On theSecond night we ate the Bueno. This one looked much more promising… milk chocolate covered wafer filled with hazelnut cream. This yumminess got 6 thumbs up. And Essie wanted to give it 2 thumbs up- so I guess that makes 7 thumbs up. J

Then we tried Cadury milk chocolate ...
This was just yummy milk chocolate, nothing fancy. It got 6 thumbs up, but no one was doing dances.

The Crunch? was kinda like a a butterfinger, but puffier and more butterscotchy that peanut buttery. No one really enjoyed it! It got 6 thumbs down, but they were not enthusiastic downs. We all said we could eat it if we were having a 'chocolate crisis' :)

The Picnic.. this was crunchy, crispy rice, peanut, nougat, caramel covered chocolate log. These seem to very popular as they are everywhere. We were excited to try it.. it sounded amazing! However, we were a little disappointed. It was just too much to discern the taste and the textures didn't seem to work for most of us. This got 2 thumbs up and 4 thumbs down.

And finally, the twist. We believe this was a FLAKE bar covered in milk chocolate. We thought the milk chocolate covering would help... but not so much. It was not a keeper.

So all in all, Australia candy bars were pretty disappointing...except for the Cadbury milk chocolate and the Bueno!

Sorry, we seem to have lost our pictures of the other individual bars and do not want to buy them again, just to take a picture. : )
